Do landlords have a statutory duty to carry out regular electrical safety checks on their properties? If so, how often do these have to be done?

as a landlord I was just about to squeal....

No they dont seem to be mandatory but are recommended.

Nonetheless if you are a tenant - contact your landlord if you are worried post more detais and we can all pile in

I get the gas C H serviced every year - and the cert that goes with it is just another £40 of dead money that er goes on the rent....
No legal requirement ...unless things go wrong.My advice is to get them checked updated and certified.Most domestic properties wired after 2011 will NOT pass an inspection without advisories ...due to changes in RCD protection regs.
