I went to book a hotel in Bournemouth for one night, my neice is getting married in same hotel, but it says on web-site that it is fully booked on the date that I want, yet when I enquired about booking two nights, on the same dates, they have rooms available! Is this right, can they do this, where do I stand, any advice most welcome. Thanks in advance.
Bournemouth is awash with hotels. Why not see if another one will take a one night booking and get a taxi, it could well be cheaper than booking two nights at the reception hotel.
is it worth asking your niece/her fiance - sometimes the hotel gives special rates to members of the wedding party, but the booking has to be made by the bride/groom.
You don't really stand anywhere. I never trust hotel website availability anyway, I'd ring the hotel direct (sometimes they have assigned rooms to travel agents which may be available).
roslyn, thanks for quick response, the hotel did set aside a number of rooms at discount but they've all been taken up by, parents, sisters, bridegrooms etc.
Its because they set aside a number of rooms for wedding guests. The invitation probably says to book by phone and tell them that you are part of the wedding party. If all the rooms set aside don't go in the few weeks before the wedding, they will release them for general sale.
