my situation at home is that last year my and my husband had a fight and my husband hit me so my mouth started bleeding and he also held a pillow on my mouth so i couldn't breath but my eldest daughter had called the police without my and my husband knowing and then my eldest daughter came downstairs and shouted at my husband saying "what are you hitting my mom for" so my husband let go of me and went up to my daughter and told her off so i got up and ran up to the door and opened it but before i could get out to get help my husband grabbed my arm to stop me from getting out then the police came in and arrested him. the first court that my husband went to he didn't plea guilty so the police said there had to be another court and this time a crown court.this time i have to go as well and if the judge asks me a question, and i say that i dont want to answer will this get me in trouble?

Capitals crime here! Pardon my ignorance but does the USA have crown courts?
This looks like the wife's version of the same story...... http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Law/Question1305839.html
No, blackquinie - but Mom is an expression used in the UK as well as the US.
First off, you should retain a lawyer for yourself. Second, you are setting a very bad precedent for your daughter. She called for help and now you want to stay silent and leave her to be responsible for the police being involved? Would you want her to stay silent if her husband choked her? If you want a better relationship with your spouse, make him be accountable for his action, then he can get help for his anger and may think twice before hurting you again. I was in your shoes and we split for a year and a half while he got his act together. We have been back together for 10 years, celebrated our 20 anniversary. No more hitting ever. Good luck, and don't make a joke out of domestic abuse by being silent. You help no one, and you hurt your daughter
Thanks, Boxtops, maybe I'm just overly suspicious.
Read very carefully New Judges reply in the link above ^^
Saying nothing will make you a 'hostile witness' the court will assume that you are so scared of your husband that you dare not speak.
