Neighbour With New Shotgun

Hello group, we have a new neighbour in the area, he got his shotgun license yesterday. So we were greeted with the sound of a double barrelled gun being discharge this morning from 09:45 onwards. We live approx 100 metres from were he was firing at clay pigeons. Our cats scarped and hid, the sheep in the field opposite ran and huddled together in the far corner, a lady cyclist I seen turn around on the bridle way which is appox 20m from where he was firing. There is also a busy dual carriageway approx 150m away. We have other neighbours scattered around in a little valley at varying distances, 250-800m. My question is obvious, is this lawful? Any advice appreciated.

Thanks again group, spoke with neighbour, he was very apologetic. Asked me for a copy of my shift pattern which I duly supplied, and asked for permission to shoot again, even invited me to go along which I denied, hate guns, scary. He even gave the wife a dozen eggs. He did fire again this morning, but funnily, knowing that he had asked and I had permitted, it wasn,t so annoying, all in all an amicable solution reached. It may take a bit more persuasion and more eggs to win over the other neighbours and local farmers though

Clay shooting can be great fun Otto and guns are only chunks of wood and metal....

Thanks Shoota, I know, but the damage they can cause if mishandled is horrific, we had an incident up here only a couple of months ago where a young lad was killed by accident with a shotgun, not to mention the Whitehaven shootings in 2010. Sorry, its just too frightening.
