Landlord Risk Assessment For Legionella

Is it compulsory for a landlord to carry out a Legionella Bacteria Risk Assessment every two years, on a modern flat in a block, I have looked on the Health &Safety website but I cant find out if it is just 'recommended' as my letting agent says, or compulsory. I presume 'recommended' means. " we will take your £140 plus VAT but it isnt 100% necessary".

and the assessment is compulsory but not sudduv notifiable
you know check listy with regulators flapping around
and quituplicate forms

Based on PPs link, it appears to be compulsory as it is part of your HSE obligations. But that doesn't mean you can't DIY. There's enough info on the article in the web link to create a simple risk assessment if you wish to save a consultant doing it for you.
I agree, the risk in the flat you describe is low. The main issue occurs for cold water storage tanks that are open and allowed to rise in temperature to 20 degrees. It may harbour the virus in those conditions.
