My boss stated that his laptop was able to tell if somebody was using a mobile phone. Is this possible?

I think my radio can do that, what with the noise it makes when a location is confirmed.
I think you will find that with modern technology this would be possible.
Maybe he was trying to worry you?
Maybe its picking them up as bluetooth devices?

But he would need to initiate a contact from his computer and agree to it on the phone before he could access the phone from the computer.
Some companies don't allow private use of mobiles when in the workplace. I know some schools don't allow pupils to use them
Laptops, desktops and the tv can pick up a signal when a mobile phone is being used. It doesn't pick up the conversation just the pips.
