What chrissa said, or, click on the word Topics, and it will expand all the Topics out, so you can see the group sub-headings. This will make it clearer where a question should be put.

Don't put the whole of the question in the Question Title box. Just give a brief description and then use the main Text box to ask what you need to.

To choose a relevant subject area you can either start by selecting a relevant topic from the list on the left (as mentioned by Chrissa1 and supplemented by Stephen_G) or by entering your question title into the box on the front page and then use the menu that will appear, as illustrated here:
