Friend of mine has been battling to see his son once a week for the past 3 years through the courts due to a vicious, nasty ex. He's now got access every saturday and is thrilled.

However, he works in Tesco and when he told them the situation, they refused to change his day off to a saturday as they're so busy then.

Does anyone know if he has a leg to stand on ? My manager would probably get sacked if he didn't allow me to see my kids (I work for council who like their employees to have a decent work/home balance)

hi hammerman i very much doubt it. Why on earth didn't he say "i work saturdays, can ihave sundays to see him instead"?
Can he do a shift swap with someone else? Maybe someone who doesn't want to work Friday nights or Sundays but has been given those shifts?
My son works in Tesco, it is virtually impossible to get a Saturday off. They even asked him to change his wedding day from a Saturday.
Easier to get the contact date changed. But Sundays are nearly as difficult to get off, he had to sign a contract that said he would work every Sunday if needed.
