I think what you are suggesting, TWR, is that the police have been told (and accept) that speeding occurs in a particular road. You then extend your argument to suggest that, should an incident occur as a result of excess speed which causes serious damage or injury, they (the police) must accept responsibili ty for it. (I assume that’s what you mean by...

I also take it it was one of those 20mph limit which is cropping up everywhere, put in place by evil driver hating folk who are in power and clearly crazed by it. There may be exceptional places whereby it is useful to compensate for appalling planning department drop offs, but those places should be rare.
I'm unsure the police ought to be prioritising this particular law breaking over other law enforcement when it is simply folk doing the right thing by civil disobedience to encourage those in power to stop imposing this sort of thing.

OG, they have just built 400 new houses nearby, the road has become race track, I understand the police can not be every where, but if it was reported that there was a seeding issue on this road since the "New House Build" there is a problem that was not there before, to me they should act on the report.
Planning should have ensured the main road didn't become the main road. Side roads are a case for parents protecting kids before they are old enough to keep themselves safe and giving them the knowledge that there are dangerous things in life, one being traffic/roads and they need care; much as they tell them that boiling water and fire hurts.
There is too much these days of expecting to impose unreasonable restrictions on others to compensate for not fulfilling one's own responsibilities; or even dropping responsibility altogether and simply blaming others.

It's not as simple as that when you're talking about buildings built over a hundred years ago.
Parents should be in charge of their kids, no argument there, but kids do run off now and then, just because that's what kids do, no sense of danger.
I was knocked over on crossing a pedestrian crossing....so you're never totally safe.
