Whats the advice/experience of employees accruing the above benefits when using their own cards to make purchases for/on behalf of their employer?

We are expressly told we are not allowed to accrue points when shopping for work. It's considered fraud. Some might find that a bit pedantic but I stick to the rules.

If you work for the NHS and use your own card to accumulate points whilst spending a patient's money, this is regarded as theft as you are profiting.

erm I wouldnt get involved - as soon as you say I was the agent of the employer then you are accepting the points are his -there is no legal basis to act on his behalf and then say o this bit is his and this bit is mine ...

but it is a bit scrotty of the employer to insist on it

a way out is to tell the employer that you can only make purchases using his card ....

From the Nectar Site Rules

Points can only be earned on business expenditure by a Nectar Collector who incurs that expenditure. An employee cannot normally collect points for their personal Nectar account on money spent by their employer. See the Help section for details.

Surely common sense tells you that if it is the employers money being spent then any benefits belong to them, anything else, unless agreed with the employer is theft.

Very succinctly put by Baldric and if the employer keeps them then it's venturing into a grey and murky area of taxable benefit in kind.

I collect Tesco points on my own card when buying things for work. I'd never have thought I was doing anything wrong. It does help that the business is owned by my partner's son, and he's not likely to make a fuss about it.

To your question I'd plead ignorance, agree to not do it in future and suggest your boss gets a policy in place from now on,

Baldric sums up the english law on this ( agency/fiduciary duty) very clearly

back off and back down plead ignorance and say you wont do it anymore

( some contributors have said it is fraud and bear in mind you can be fired for fraud no matter what amount )

I used to collect Clubcard points when fuelling my company vehicle until they changed card providers.
The new one doesn't give points of any kind at any outlet.
I did check with a senior operative who accompanied me on my first day, when I smiled and said 'Will I use my Clubcard?' he replied 'Of course.'

I can't see what the problem is. If there isn't a company card that you are told to use, what difference does it make to your bosses if you collect the points rather than let them go to waste? A bit petty really.
