Hi,

If a written agreement to repay a debt has a clause that should X happen the remaining debt becomes payable in full within 14 days, how often can the debtor be contacted without it being classed as harassment?

I have invoked this clause on someone and have informed them of such but don't want to be over zealous in reminding them to pay.

Thanks

A daily letter would be okay. If it's phone calls then a couple a day wouldn't seem unreasonable as the 14 day period nears its end. Have you set out the next steps if the repayment is not made in full? A few knocks on the door might help too

Thank you.

I don't want to hassle her and I don't want to leave it to be forgotten.

When can I 'sell on' the debt? Do I have to wait for months or years of her not paying to do that?
If you sell it on she will be hassled so a bit of gentle hassling from you might be better for her.

To sell it you would need to contact various the companies that buy debts. I think you can do this at any time but you are likely to be offered only a small % of its value.
