Hi, can a landlord who currently has a council home continue bidding for a larger council home as they are overcrowded?

The home that was bought was a small two bedroom investment.

Are you saying person A. Purchased a council house but now wants a larger one from the council to rent?

No the person has a council property and his father gave some money to him which he used to buy a small house. This house he rents out and he continues to live in his council home.

Now that his family has grown larger can he bid for a bigger property? Is he allowed?

I don’t think there is any law against it but it may not be allowed by the rules of the council who is his landlord.

To bid for a council property you have to register and have enough points to qualify. It is doubtful that anyone that owns a home and rents it out fulfils the criteria.

If you are absolutely certain that he owns the other property (you can check for about £3 online at the Land Registry) then you really should inform the council.
