today. I live in London and I'm 17. I shoplifted from waitrose. They banned me from there and are gonna send a letter home. I don't want my parents finding out so 1. how would the cover of the letter would look. Eg- would waitrose/fine/warning be written? Secondly how long would the letter come in?how am I expected to pay the fine? Over the phone? Computer? There wouldn't be any record of this would there? Because there was no police involved. So there's no way any universities or family could know about this? just want to put my mind at ease.

I don't see how there can be a fine if the police and courts weren't involved
Beat me to it, ff.
will probably just be a letter to confirm you are banned from the store, will be in a franked envelope...not postage stamp ...
write Waitrose a letter of apology and that you were stoopid, not thinking and won't do it again....they may just release you from the ban or at least minimise the time....

Do they sell knickers in Waitrose?

I blinked and missed it.
There are systems of cautions and fixed penalty notices(for age 18+) but the police/CPS would have had to be involved
You will not be fined , only a court can do that.
If you try to go into Waitrose again you will be refused entry and/or told to leave so it would be a bit awkward if you are with your parents or friends! No one will know unless you or your parents tell them.
Did they take your photo? Some shops have facial recognition camera systems which recognise banned shoppers from a photo and set off an alarm if they try to get in!
You will have been banned from all Waitrose stores so don't try to use another one.
