Recording A 3Rd Party Conversation Without Consent.
I recently had an argument with my mother that is now in the past. However my brother decided to record the conversation (in which he was not involved) without my knowledge or consent. I have asked him to delete the recording however he is refusing to do so. It was recorded on private property, without my consent and a conversation he was not part of. Can he be forced to delete the recording?

If that had been me with my younger brother I woul dhave chosen one of the following options (brothers can be a pain!!) 1grab hold of the phone (I assume it is a phone) and delete it. 2 Make it clear you couldn't give a monkeys..sneer at him, tell him to do 'whatever' and walk away..it will be no fun if you show you don't care or 3 Get your mum on your side..after all she was taped too. My favourite, for any appropriate similar situation is 2. Works for all situations with anyone!! Don't let him get the better of you by being wound up.
Mary anon...doesn't matter what his age is ..he is a teenage boy and therefore very irritating...and he knows how to wind you up....My brother was younger and did something similar....my advice stays the same ... sneer as if you think he is just pondlife...which he may well be and totally ignore him...trust me this will wind him up because he is simply trying to annoy and upset you. This will happen in other walks of you life... not often I hope...but the trick is to make them feel ashamed...don't talk to him, look him in the eye and give a little shke of your head as if you feel sorry for him...best way.....he will come and tell you he has deleted it !!
Mary.....the idea is not to forget it but to obviously ignore him... he will hate it!! Keep it going for as long as it takes for him to get you the same level of maturity that you have reached. Never be rude just look at him with disdain!!! If he asks for the salt pass it but don't engage...eg 'I have a recording of you rowing with mum' ' Look at him, say 'I know' and carry on doing what you were doing!!
Thing is he's not a normal teenage boy so I don't think he's looking to show off about it. He just feels it necessary to keep the video and it makes me uncomfortable. I know he won't show anyone so I just don't see the point in keeping it. Im just furious about how he breached my privacy and was looking more at the legality of what he's done. I've told him its illegal to record people without their consent and all he says is to tell someone that will actually do something about it.
