In the UK though pedestrians have priority when they've
already started to cross the road at either zebra crossings or at junctions which motorised vehicles are turning into. (e.g. here:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/559b750840f0b61564000018/the-highway-code-rule-170.jpg ). In most other circumstances (such as when waiting at a zebra crossing or when crossing the road other than at a junction) pedestrians don't have priority.
