Plus, the police are hardly likely to go OTT when arresting someone with a tv crew filming them are they?
Just why people believe every thing that they see on TV is 'reality' is beyond me.

Tills, do you remember this story from our very own Hanley? Police officer threatened to knock out a young girl.

He got a warning, anyone else would have been arrested on a public order offence. They don't show things like that on Police Camera Action

My FiL was the victim of a burglary in the Working Men's Club where he was a steward. He was in his late 60's at the time not very tall or big built. He was clearing up after closing and there on his own. He was gaffer taped to a chair and gagged with gaffer tape. Luckily a passer by out with his dog saw the lights on and called the police. He was taken to the police station, which is fair enough, his clothes were taken and he was put in a boiler suit. The police also "found in their car" several stolen cheque books which they alleged had fallen out of his pocket in the car on the way to the station. He was cautioned and taken home in the small hours...not allowed to phone his wife who was going crazy. Next day they phoned my husband and told him the whole story. He went down there like an avenging angel and sorted the local police who apologised profusely, returned his clothes and agreed that he was a victim and not a criminal.....they denied all knowledge of the chequebooks. I used to think that the police were on the whole honest......not after that.
Many years ago, I was always in trouble with the Police, I never was treated in an unfriendly manner to be honest, I have also since witnessed the odd arrest, but I am always pleased to see that the police are generally quite courteous. The Police don't need to be throwing their weight around too much as it just causes more issues and could also others to get involved, I think the Police handle most situations quite professionally.
I do watch quite a few of these reality 999 programmes and I see quite a few thugs and crims thrown to the floor quite aggressively.
What does surprise me is the incredibly light sentences that these criminals get, especially after they have risked so many lives etc with their driving to escape the police.
