Will By Post Lost.
In 2005 06 My brother gave me what looked like a credit card with contact details on. I believe it was for a solicitor or will writer because he said it was in case anything happened to him. His wife knows nothing about this. I unfortunately lost this card in a house move. My brother died in 2008. Does anyone know of such a company who gave it's clients such a card?

If a will has been presented then the details will be there and also, I believe if the intestacy procedure has been followed. If you believe that there was no will and no one has applied to administer your brother's estate then there is the Bona Vacantia list too.

Thank you for your response. Couple of months after his death my sister in law got probate. Apparently there was no will registered. Non found any way. But after speaking to my mother i think there is one that no one other than my brother knew about. Unless someone found it and destroyed it. His heath prevented him from travelling and I know he didn't use anyone local so it must have been done by post as he didn't use the internet. I'm sure it's out tgere but what company gives its clients cards with all the contact details on? Thank you.
so far everything has been followed according to the law
I am sure that there are lots out there saying - "I am there was a will you know but no one knows a damn thing about it"
Your sister in law was gonna get the mega part anyway
do you really think that your brother wrote a will which was radically different to that - didnt tell anyone, didnt keep a copy and only gave you a credit-card thingey ? without saying for gods sake it is vital etc...and without asking you to be executor ?

Thank you Peter for your reply. Some of the content in there though is a little off topic. What I originally asked was basically this, does anyone know of a company in the UK, solicitor or will writer, that supplies their clients with a card similar to a credit card in shape etc with contact details etc on. It is a very long shot i know but I have got to try. The reasons behind my asking is not important suffice to say my brother's life and actions were not as straight forward as most people's. Thank you again.
I suggest you pay to see a solicitor to see if they can advise on whether there is any real prospect of (a) the solicitor could be traced and (b) the implemented will being overturned and the estate redistributed after all this time.
I assume there must have been some dramatic revelation (eg secret child) or drastic change in circumstances which explains why this is (I assume) only just being addressed now

Peter, i think you have got your quotation marks mixed up from another post as i didn't write that. I have asked a simple question which certainly does not have a simple answer. Now if you want to sit in the background waiting for people such as me asking questions you cannot answer (and you certainly try with the amount of replies you make) by all means reply . I have a problem and I was hoping this forum may be have been able to help. It is very important to me i try at least to find the answer. Your replies are somewhat off topic as i say and extremely unhelpful but I have been on other forums and noted there are people who for some reason try to belittle other forum members with there strange comments. Why, i dont know. If yor happy doing silly things like this, go ahead. Im old enough and wise enough to rise above it... Thank you at least for showing an interest.
Before I go, i would just like to thank all other members for their replies. I really appreciate your input. Unfortunately forums now days have certain members in their midst who take pleasure in trying to bring down others by their stupid and sometimes childish remarks. They probably think they are being clever but we all know different, don't we. I will now leave this forum to people such as peter for them to PLAY with.Thank you again.
Scraggs...peter is one of our more colourful characters, and his response may not make sense to you. But, he generally is not the type to belittle or make childish remarks as you say. It's just his way with words. Please note...his statement in quotes was his slightly exaggerated interpretation of how your question could be read. At least that's how I read it.
