If I want to make a change to my existing will, can I make it via a codicil, or do I have to make a new will. Thank you for any advice.

Although changes can be made using a codicil; since the document must be witnessed in the same way as the Will – my advice would be to re-write the Will, especially if you have an electronic copy (making changes easy).

My reasoning is that a codicil could become detached (or even deliberately lost once you have passed on); whereas it would be much harder for someone to manipulate a complete stand-alone Will. There is also less risk of misunderstanding where a Will has no codicil.

Of course, if you are using a solicitor (or other professional) to write your Will, using a codicil will be the cheaper option.
