Hi Barmaid!
I need a barrister to attend mediation for a will dispute and wondered if you would be interested?
If so, how would I be able to contact you please?

Gardenlady, thank you for thinking of me. Ordinarily I would be interested - subject to the geography as JacktheHat has correctly pointed out. You can instruct a barrister direct - I would suggest phoning a local Chambers and talking to the Senior Clerk and telling them the nature of your issue. Very often a barrister you are interested in instructing will agree to have a quick chat on the phone beforehand (although bear in mind they wont advise you until they have seen your papers).
If you still have a solicitor they can be asked to recommend one or two for you to choose from. Although with a solicitor acting it is important that the barrister and solicitor have a good working relationship.
Spath it is completely wrong to say that in order to "get a good one" you are advised to go through your solicitor. Nowadays it is possible to instruct a barrister direct without incurring the cost of a solicitor as well. Only those barristers who have done additional training are licensed to do direct access work.
I wish you the best of luck. I do think you are doing the right thing in mediating - I am very conscious that mediation often resolves these will disputes far quicker and cheaper than a full blown chancery trial.

Thank you so much for replying Barmaid! I will give the local chambers in Norwich a call thank you. I hope mediation does settle it, it’s been a tough year and this legal stuff is mind boggling to me. I just want to grieve without all the added stress.
Thank you again for your advice.
