Is it illegal for evidence to be brought to court on the morning of a trial at magistrates?

Also i was on the day of my court case and another charge was placed upon me. I was told this by my solicitor not any police etc.

It is legal, but as there has been another charge, your solicitor needs to ask for an adjournment so that you can prepare your defence to the new case.

It's already been and gone now. I feel really let down by my solicitor. The new charge was related to the old charge and I was convicted of both. I am appealing.

Do you know about evidence being presented on the day of court?

I'm not a solicitor, but I don't think it is actually illegal. But I DO think your solicitor was negligent to allow the trial to continue with the new evidence. As soon as he became aware ,he/she should have asked for an adjournment to give time to examine the new evidence. Get a different solicitor and ask their advice about an appeal. DO NOT use the same one.

Yes I am in the process of finding a new solicitor and putting in an appeal.
