Is there any way we can message on here in a non-public forum. Not something I really want to share with everybody I just want to find out if it's possible that I've done something broken the law

To the best of my knowledge, we've got no regular contributors from the USA here (and almost certainly nobody with any expertise in US law, which is vastly different to UK law).

You're probably most likely to get a meaningful answer on a US-based Q&A website. Unfortunately most of them (such as Answewrbag and Yahoo Answers) aren't as well-moderated as this site is, meaning that they're full of trolls and spammers. However Quora is worth a try:
