Querying Unauthorised Transactions

My son had at least 6 transactions of £6,50 taken from his bank. One after each other. He queried it with his bank. They said he must have made them as after they had contacted the company, ( a gaming company ) they were told my sons details were on their data base. He’s never had any dealings with this company. Odd thing is his bank have reimbursed 2 of the payments, not the remaining.

if it is a visa card try to get a refund for non supply of services

His bank should re-emburse the full amount and investigate.

It's not hard to get hold of bank account details. My Lloyds debit card has the account name, sort-code & account number right on the front of the card. Someone who knows your son might have copied those details & quoted his address. Offshore gambling outfits are probably not too fussy about the address, either, though they ought to be.

so you must go down the querying route
and then the not satisfied route ( all in proper English like you dont read me doing here )
and then the complaints route

well known trick of exhausting complainants because then they keep the MONNAY ! - Mr Bezos please note!

just done this myself
and with also the tax man - who working from the garding doubled my income added a bit and then levied £25k extra tax pains and penalties

wiv another company the clerk said straight off
and "you said you gave your pin out yeah you just said vat innit?" and I said - "no I didnt is this call being recorded" - and when she said yes
I said sepulchrally - good - very good news indeed.

Is he absolutely sure he has had no dealings with the game company? It may not be the name of the game he has been playing. It is too easy to spend money in online games.

Mrs A had a similar thing a few years back, a series of £30s being taken from a credit card. She shouted, Visa backed down, paid it back to her.

But you do need to be persistent, I'm afraid.

satprof, if you still have that rare beast a cheque book all those details are on every cheque. Even better, if you write a cheque you are also giving somebody your signature.

and scan everyone before sending !
