Legal Redress Required

Okay, so my disabled mum's ex employee made up a catalogue of lies about his 'mistreatment' and he is now in line for a £20,000 pay-out, as the solictor daren't risk it going to court and the judge taking pity on this lying individual.

I lost my dad in April in lockdown and I am extremely upset to see the stress this has created for my mum, who did nothing but treat the employee with kindness. He has clearly done this before and probably took the job as kennel assistant realising she would be easy prey.

What sort of legal redress will my mum have once the case is closed? Can she sue for defamation and/or harrasment?

I can't see her having any legal redress afterwards. She either needs to pay up now (and I'm not sure why the solicitor advises that unless he thinks there is some evidence or a strong chance the claim will succeed) or she should challenge/it now

Ah- I see you had already added answers to your previous post so you do know how to do it. Maybe ask the Ed to remove this as it gets disjointed if you have 2 threads on the same thing
