Eviction?

My landlord wants to sell the flat I've been in for 11 years. Being unable to walk/stand is making things really hard as I can't pack easily, and there is literally nothing coming up on the websites for me to apply for. I have enquired about a few, and I'm either ignored by the estate agents, or told the property has already gone, or that the landlord is considering the list of applicants! I am unable to live somewhere with stairs or where a car can't easily drop me close to the front door. I've been searching since February and still nothing. I am also reliant on some benefits which I know most landlords will not want to go near, even though I have always paid 6 months in advance.
I am on the council list but every time I bid, so do about 60 other people who have been waiting longer than me, I am in Band C for medical need, and I believe that if I told the council that I may be homeless, this would downgrade me to Band D, and the best I could hope for would be to go into a hostel which is not going to be suitable for my medical problems or all my belongings! I'm over 50- not young, so all this is very hard.
Any advice would be great. I can't believe my landlords are doing this during the pandemic when everything is so difficult anyway.

ps have you thought about a room in a house rather than applying for a flat?

What area do you need to live in, Scarlett? When I search for 'rental properties for the disabled' a lot come up, none of them council and some with quite low rent.

I'm in the south east, the most expensive area. My house is in the south west. I'm self employed but I couldn't do my work from home. I couldn't live in a room as I have all my own furniture and a lot of kit. I'm not a youngster, and have done 30 years of house sharing! Plus with my mobility/complex needs, I really do need my own place. I'll chase up Citizens Advice.

i suppose if it's a case between being on the streets or putting your "stuff" in storage or selling some furniture to give you more time to find somewhere, it's a no-brainer.
Sounds like you are going to have to think creatively as you have such specific requirements and no control over what your landlord does. Or perhaps look for a different job in a different area? There are plenty of jobs disabled people can do (i should know - since ive been disabled i've always worked full time) and now that more firms are geared up to accept home working as an alternative to working from a specific place, there's more flexibility. For example i am sitting here replying now in my PJs, but will work later + tonight to get my hours in. It might seem scary, but it might be what you have to do - think differently if you cant get a place in your preferred area

Scarlett you own a house in the South West of England? You are not homeless. If you have house shared for 30 years how long have you had a mortgage on this house? Your house must be worth way more than you paid for it, and selling it is the only way you are going to get either a council house or housing association one.
