That it should be handed in to police & if not claimed becomes the property of the finder?

My BiL's mother found a briefcase containing several £1000 - idiot had driven off with it on top of his car. She received the handsome reward of £10!
Make an attempt to find the owner and if not found hand it in to the police. If not claimed within one month tha cash goes to the finder.
I've told this one before on AB. My daughter (then aged about 8 or 9) found a £20 note in our local shop and handed it in to the shop's owner, who praised my young 'un for her honesty.
Dad, however, took a different viewpoint and explained to his naive daughter that the money was probably lost by a customer but that it was now in the owner's till. Next time she finds any money, she should hand it to dad.
FF a few weeks, same shop, she finds another £20. This time she brings it home, hands it to dad who rewards said daughter by giving her £1.
The moral of this story is that honesty is not always the best policy. Obedience to one's parents is.
And what did dad do with the money?
"The moral of this story is that honesty is not always the best policy. Obedience to one's parents is."
The moral of this story is crooked parents teach their kids dishonesty.
The chair, exactly.

Why DOB ?
My mother found a wallet forty years ago with £400 in it. She took time and trouble to find the owner. He got it back, put it in his back pocket and just walked off. Not so much as a thank you.
Chair and Danny, so the owner of the shop is the rightful owner of the money?
Hardly likely they lost it, is it.

Have a word with yourselves!
Ken,ypou should have a word with youself, what you did was pure and simple theft. Not a good example to a child.
To check she is over 18, Baz? No doubt, just a form they have to fill in. My dad once handed in £2k he had found, and was given it back not long after.
By the way Danny, you holier than thouness, i spent it wisely.
Ken // I spent it wisely//
As I said, not a good example to a child.By the way "holier than thou" is not really appropriate, I am just honest.

Butter wouldn't melt.
Ken, your sarcasm is wasted on me.
And your holier than thou attitude is wasted on me, Danny.
Chou// I quite like Germany's ruling on finding cash.//
How is it any better than the UK law?
Because if it's under a tenner you don't get labelled a thief :)
