the night before last a neighbour drove home dunk
she lives 6 doors away.
but before she made it all the way home she crashed her car into my caravan which was parked next to the road outside my house
she has badly damaged my caravan and also the next-door neighbour's car
my question is
How do I claim from her insurance ?
Do I just go to her house and ask for her insurance details?
then contact her insurance company requesting a claim form ?
No you claim to your insurance company who will find out the other insurer from the reg and claim back from them....but it may save time if you have there insurance details
I would make the police the first port of call. You might find you have to claim on your caravan insurance in the first instance; that will get the caravan repaired/replaced most quickly and your insurance company will take all the action to get their money back from your neighbour.
If you do not insure your caravan you will have to initially pay for the repairs yourself and then hire a solicitor to sue your neighbour to get your money back.
next to the road there is a strip of paved area for people to park their vehicles on my caravan was on this area, off the road directly parked under a street light
the police were called and she was arrested and is released on bail she was driving in the opposite direction and careered across the road into our vehicles
There must be a way for Jonny to make a third party claim off her insurance surely, especially as she was arrested.
I think it’s worth calling on her and asking for her insurance details in the first instance. That establishes whether or not she was insured. Then call them up and see what they say.
I will approach her on Tuesday and speak about the repair as I think an insurance company would probably write off the caravan, but I hope for it to be repaired but in the end it is only a caravan and nobody was hurt she had her daughter in her car at the time and a pedestrian was on the pavement. It could have ended much worse.

almost all the advice here ( in my opinion) can be ignored.
car not an issue
damage to your caravan, is
write to her and say that she damaged your caravan whilst drunk, can she pay for it - £2750 . With the case hanging over her, she is unlikely to say - "yeah foo! £2500 tops " (a)
or even to foo off.
if she says (a) - I wd say yeah christ done where is the cheque.
You take her number plate and register it with your insurance company
Imagine she didnt live down the road and you dont know her she did a hit and run you claim with your insurance company and give them the number plate and they can sort it
What a idiot driving drunk only 6 doors down she deserves the claim what a idiot someone could have died
Yes but its best to use the most productive route s avoid blind alleys. You could just ask them to pay you Xxxxx pounds but what if they ignore you. Or say no. S solicitor would have more luck. Noy sure if small claims court would work.... maybe worth a look. But you pay your insurer to cover this don't you?
