How Do You Take Someone Off House Deeds

My husband died in November and all day two share checks that have bounced everything is done.

However I don't know how I go about taking his name off the deeds.

Our home was mortgage free and I paid off the mortgage on the other house. So they are now fully mine as it were.

At some point I would like to transfer the other house equally to our two adult children but right now I need to have just my name on them.

Is it complicated and something that I should get a solicitor to do? Or is it an idiot proof process that a numpty like me could do?

Thank you.

It is straightforward and you don't need a solicitor.

You fill in a form called DJP and send it to the Land Registry with a copy of the death certificate.

You can download the form and read the guidance notes here

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/deceased-joint-proprietor-djp

You will need the Title number of the properties in order to complete the form.  If you don't know it you can get it here by applying for a copy of the Title Register.  You will need to pay £3 for each property
