Collecting people from the airport, we parked late at night at the nearby McDonald's. It being very dark, husband got out of the car to read parking sign - 60 minutes free if using the facilities - then went into McDonalds to get coffee. Fifteen minutes later we departed. Today he has received a £100 parking fine.
Can someone please make sense of this - in particular the reference to getting out of the car and walking:

The reason given is 'being longer than the period of parking that had been paid for or without authorisation, in an apparent breach of the terms and conditions that are displayed on signs in prominent places around the site and that those motorists entering the site agree to be bound by. As a result this parking charge notice, whihc is now immediately payable, has been issued.'
Naomi, I can't help because parking matters are not my forte. But I suggest you post your problem here:
Post it on the "Private parking tickets" board. (My contributions to that forum are usually under "Speeding and other criminal 0ffences").
There are experts there, some are either practising or retired lawyers and one or two really know their parking stuff. Be prepared to be asked questions or to post up documents. It may seem a bind but they will give you proper advice if you provide them with accurate information.
