will this parking fine stand?

my mum parked in a certain diy store's car park last week and has now received a parking fine in the post.the store is quite close to our town centre and there are signs in their carpark obviously to discourage non customers from parking there to avoid paying multi-storey charges while they shop in the town.my mum was buying wallpaper.went into store made her choice, worked out the cost, had a look around the store then made the walk to her building society to withdraw some savings to pay for it,walked back and made the purchase which all in all took her 2&1/2hrs.the parking fine says the parking is for b&q customers only(ok there)for 2 hours free parking.(this could be a problem)do you think the parking company may drop this as we have proof of a purchase to the value of 60 and just half hour over the limit?if not this was one expensive trip to diy store with 75 parking ticket!!!!!!

I agree with ward minter.. you have as much chance as getting that fine rescinded as I do of winning the lottery!. I certainly would kick up one hell of a stink and make sure they know that you, your whole family and friends will boycott the store in future if this is how a loyal customer is going to be treated. Although they dont actually hand out the fine and have, I expect no authority to cancel it, they could offer you vouchers up to the value of the fine. Good luck and put the ticket on ebay and sell it! You might get the value of the fine!!
Yes, I think that unfortunately you may not have much joy with this one. One of my previous employers had private parking and employed a parking company to police it. My friend who had a company parking permit on her dash, parked her car and as she got out, the wind blew the permit into the foot well and she got a ticket by the parking company. She contacted them and explained the situation, but they were extremely unsympathetic and said it was not their problem as she was not displaying a valid ticket. She contacted our company who were sympathetic, but said they could do nothing about it, as the parking company worked to their own rules and regulations and our company had to abide by them. It is always worth contacting B&Q of course, but you may not get very far! Best of luck, Sue
