Can a social worker do jury duty?

Can anyone tell me if a social worker is allowed to do jury duty? please

On the other hand, police and probation officers are not allowed to do so. From memory, this includes anyone who has been in one of those occupations within the last ten years. Surprisingly, the Criminal Justice Service website ignores this point, and several others.

Ward~Minter is quite right. As the CJS website suggests there are no longer any �reserved occupations� which provide blanket exemptions from jury service.

The other site which Grunty provided does, in fact, show the list of occupations where those summoned could claim exemption prior to last year. As you can see, social worker was not among them.

The exemptions for those on bail and those convicted of serious offences remains.

pretty much everyone other than those with convictions has to do jury service. I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the jury panel despite nearly being empanelled for one of my own clients trials!! ( am a legal executive)
