80 permonth instead of what? If they have sent it to the bailiffs there's nothing you can do
Did you and the council agree to 80 per month? Have you got it in writing if you did? Have you defaulted on that agreement in anyway?
If you have defaulted anywhere along the line they will send in the bailiffs. However, if you have spoken to them about this then i find it very hard to believe that they have still sent in the "heavies". This all depends on how much you owe them as well.
You may be able to keep paying the 80 to the council just to reduce the amount, and they MAY be willing to notify the bailiffs of new balance each time. This doesn't necessarily mean the action will stop though.

If you cannot afford what the bailiffs are asking, you could always just ignore them whenever they call which would mean the case will go back to the council, and you may be able to come to another agreement then.

Strictly speaking, if you owe money after a Liability Order is granted then they can take further action, even if payments are coming in.

I had no agreement with Council i knew i missed some payment at end of last year's Council Tax payment so i increase this years payment from 70 to 80 to may up. I have however gone back to the council and highlight this now waiting for their response on next move.
You are not alone in mot being able to pay your council tax. I read last week that Birmingham residents are about 12 million in arrears. A highly unpopular tax... and I believe a huge proportion goes to pay the pensions of council staff.
ladymax you dont say how much your council tax is normally per month because 80 per month is less than my normal bill i have to pay 97 per month. Are you actually paying off any of the money you owe as well as keeping up to date with the new bill i reckon in the future you learn by your mistakes it will probably be cheaper than baliffs.
Rather than pay them the full amount of arrears you can agree to an attachment of earnings payment whereby they take it directly from your wages...they take a percentage of your earnings, bear in mind the more you earn ie overtime, bonuses etc..the more they take
just a thought....

if the bailiffs turn up you are under no obligation to let them in.
You need to try and come to an agreement with the Council about how much you will pay off the arrears each month. Normally, if this is done, the Council will withdraw the case from the bailiffs. But you MUST make sure you keep rigidly to the agreement and do not miss or delay any payments. And you must keep the current year's bill payments up to date as well. You may need to identify on each payment how much of it is for the arrears, and how much for the current year. Otherwise, you could find it all gets allocated to one or the other.
