i live in a private rented house,which i am leaving soon.There was no contract signed and the landlord wants me to do things to the house that wasnt here when i arrived.What rights do i have?

I assume if nothing was signed by you saying that you'd do those things at the house, you call tell him to p*ss off - cheeky beggar!!!
Did you pay a deposit. If not tell him to do one. However, if you did then he may withhold the deposit until he is satisfied with the state of the place. Having said that, if there was no inventory at the time you moved in you could take him to the small claims court for the return of your deposit as he would have no right to withhold it from you.
