What does it mean when someones an "executer" of a will? They way it stands is that I'm the only child and should be the only person to inherit their properties as my parents want it to be, but there's also an "executer" who is my mother's youngest sister (she was also the one who helped them with their will). Advance thanks for any help.
The executor does all the paperwork, etc, to carry out the wishes expressed in the will. He/she will list the assets, value them, get probate (formal legal confirmation of the will) gather the assets in and pay them out.
He/she is not entitled to payment (unless the will provides for it) but is entitled to out of pocket expenses.
Personally I don`t know why they had to get her involved,is this what your thinking. I am an only child and when my dad died,(didn`t even leave a will) the solicitor sorted everything.
