i was caught by a gatso twice in one minute of each other doing the same speed on the same road , these cameras were 0.5 of a mile apart,is this one or two offences, and is there a certain distance these cameras should be apart.
There is no set distance apart. In this case I would have thought you could sucessfully argue that it is in fact 1 case of speeding. You would probably have to go to court to do it. Imagine for a minute that it was a policeman that stopped you rather than the cameras then he would only prosecute you for one speeding offence so on that basis you at least have an arguable point. Bit of a grey area though, anyone have knowledge of a previous case of this?
Two separate offences - assuming you are not a totter or the speed was grossly excessive expect two fixed penalty tickets 60 each and 3 points for each offence. Slow down or keep a better look out in future
Sometimes the calabration of the cameras are overlooked and the camera registraton and the chain of evidence broken. It is always worth taking speeding offences to court as the time and effort and the procedure can breakdown while going through the justice process.
It's up to you to accept the fine and points or gamble something will fail and win by default.
I dont think it is worth taking such cases to court Lawman the calibration certificates are rarely out of date in my experience and on top of the fine you could face a costs bill in excess of 300
thanks for the answers , going to court admit the offences, hope to pay two fines ,and beg for just three points.the road in question was preston new road in blackpool ,it was a forty mph then changed ,its like a dual carrigeway but has about 5 speed cameras on,lancashire council are skint need money i think.
