Car hit by wheelchair in carpark that displays parking at own risk

My new car was hit in a college car park by a wheelchair user, causing damage to the side of the car.
The accident was witnessed by myself, i contacted the college about said incident but they said that all cars are parked at the owners risk, so they are not liable.
Is there anyway i can claim for the damage caused?
The person in the wheelchair was being pushed by a special needs student, both were not being supervised by staff.
Where do i stand on this?

Do you have the name of the person pushing the wheelchair? If so report it to the police

the person pushing the wheelchair is of the age of 15 and is a special needs student

As unfortunate as it is, it is very unlikely that you can claim for any damage.

If you have Fully Comprehensive Insurance you should be able to make a claim on this. I agree that this seems unfair, but unless the damage was done maliciously or with criminal intent, the Police won't be interested at all.

This is one of the problems with parking in some car parks.

the only way really is to take out a claim against the pusher in the small claims court,or put it down to experience

You will not be able to claim against the college because the accident was in thier car park. You would only be able to claim if their car park was in a state of disrepair that caused personal injury

Your only possible recourse to civil action would be against the wheelchair occupant or its pusher, which seems unlikely. Unless such users have third party liability insurance. The police won't be interested because its not a criminal action.
