Police procedure?
I just wondered what the police procedure is when an accident occurs. My son was in an accident with another car and the cars were both damaged badly. The driver of the other car said that he would phone the police but when he came back he said they wouldnt come out, I just thought this was a bit odd.

As for police attendence. They will attend if there are injuries, dubious circumstances and or the accident causes a blocked road or presents a danger to others.
Your son can always report the accident. This way, if he believes that the other driver is driving illegally ( no license or tax etc) it may be investigated.
Other than that.. let the insurance deal with it.

It is possible that the other driver did not make the call because he knew there was something wrong with himself or his vehicle. The police would normally attend in the case of injuries, or an allegation of a criminal offence, e.g. careless driving, or in the case of serious damage. They would also attend if the road was blocked etc. In an ideal world they would attend to see whether these circumstances existed. We do not live in an ideal world, and they will often find a reason for not coming.
