driving licence
my employer has asked for a copy of my driving licence. is this legal.i dont mind showing my licence.can anyone enlighten me if legal or not.

They do not copy this though, only record that they have seen it and that it is a full licence etc and that I am legally allowed to drive and therfore claim expanses for doing so. I agree with one eyed vic, I don't see why a copy would be needed but if they do take one, it must be stored securely and used only for the purpose which you supplied it and if that purpose no longer exists (ie driving for work ) the copy should be destroyed after a reasonable length of time.
