Does anyone have advice on accident compensation ?

Sadly my partner was knocked off her push bike this week - causing a badly broken leg which may have to pinned and quite a few cuts and bruises not to mention a written off bike. The police have 4 wittinesses and the guy has admitted he didn't see her on the roundabout. The police have mentioned she will be entitled to some compensation so do we approach one of the companies ourselves or take advice from the police ?

I would say take advice from the Police as a lot of these companies you have to take out an insurance with them and have to wait monthes for your money dont be fooled by the adverts

The police will not chase compensation for you. They may prosecute the driver for any number of offences, and they will supply the evidence to your solicitor.

You need to contact a solicitor, not necessarily a compensation company. Be prepared to wait a LONG time for compensation, though. The wheels of justice turn slowly.

I agree about these accident companys . local
citizen advice bureau may be able to advise although they will not be allowed to recommend a company etc.

cant you just approach the person who did it for their insurance details, then get in touch with them?

you'll still need to sue, even if you have the relevant insurance details. (Insurance companies are not going to hand out cash sums without being forced to). See a solicitor, sounds like you have a tight case, and a settlement may well be offered.
