"buying" credit card debts
I got into trouble with a credit card debt, got it sorted (I thought), had interest knocked off and have been repaying in installments for 6 months to a third party as agreed with original lender. Just been contacted by another company who say they have bought the debt so I now owe them the original amount and pay NOW. I sent them a copy of a letter from the people I am paying to confirming that I am paying and nothing has changed, but all I had back was a threat of them taking me to court. Obviously I want to keep up the agreement I already have , paying the smaller sum as negotiated with the original lender, not starting again with someone else (and what happens to the money I have already paid?)
Can anyone help?has had a similar problem?
