unfortunately, these white lines wardy mentioned, have no legal power.
these people are correct unfortunately, you are allowed to park across peoples drives - most people however don't, as a courtesy.
i looked into this when thinking of having a parking space created on my land.
check with your local authority about getting a ''disabled'' sign painted - people will usually not park here.
you will likely have to pay for it though.

well, haveing seen some mix of replies i was confused by them so i checked a few out and it seems that it depends on the authority as to whether or not this is illegal - the first link below, says what i said above, and the one below says to call the police ...
i think you should look at your local council website to see their take on it - look for 'H' markings.
(you will have to copy and paste these links i think)

We have had problems with parents collecting children from school parking in front of our drive. It is a double drive with 1 side a raised kerb, they are allowed to park there even though there is a vehicle parked on the drive, they must'nt obstruct the other vehicle where it is a drop kerb, we could have white lines at a cost of 150, but this cannot stop them. It is so frustrating. The police say that we have every right to get out of our drive but not to get back in CRAZY!! The school send out letters to parents but they ignore it, I am not the only one in the road with this problem. Frustrating!!
