Drink Driving arrest

On the 14th of April my husband was arrested for being over the legal drink driving limit.He had an accident and was taken to hospital where he was arrested.He's heard nothing since.Have the police got a time scale in which they need to proceed with any action?
prev driving whilst uninsured (without intention/mens rea)
