if you are not resident or work in the uk but visit for 6 weeks (not all at the same time. do you still have to fill in a tax return

no, you pay your tax in the country you're resident in. As far as I know, you can come and go as often as you like, up to a total of several months.
Do you have any income in the UK - eg property or investments? If so you are liable to tax on it regardless of where you live.
