father in law had an accident, knocked a cyclist off his bike, found out that licence was invalid, he had not renewed it since 2000 ! (he is 80yrs old ) he has renewed it now, havnt heard from the police yet what could happen to him ??

2. Because he had no licence at the time of the accident it is more than likely this will invalidate his insurance which means he has committed the offence of driving without insurance.
3. You haven't said how the accident happened so I can't comment on any offences he may have committed in relation to the accident (eg driving without due care & attention etc).
