If someone works in a hospital (not as a nurse - but deals with the patients) and they have been convicted of assault (this was not on their record at the time of applying for the job) - do they have to inform their employer? If they didn't and their employer found out would they be dismissed? - TIA

Yes inform the hospital before someone else does it for them. Depends on policy if they are dismissed but someone convicted of assault would not normally be considered a fit person to deal with hospital patiernts
hospitals, schools, care homes etc all do a POVA check, (this is for ALL staff) before employing someone this will tell them of any crimal records or charges they have! this can take up to a month or longer to be completed, however if somone is employed BEFORE the pova comes back & something is onit & they are dismissed then the EMPLOYER is at fault!!!

i would tell them before someone else does IF nothing comes back on from the check just so they are aware and youve covered yourself
