For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Many laws are replaced and revoked, eg. the Gambling Act 2005 became law last weekend and the old Gaming Act 1968 passed into history. There are still people likely to appear in court in the future for breaching the old Act. They don't just give up prosecuting people who offended the old law just because a new law has come in. Therefore, actual convictions will also still be recorded and valid.
