Hi, can anyone help please. We has a new Asda built recently, and my husband inadvertently wandered into a bus lane by mistake. It is on private land and there is a blue sign, but most people would not know it was there. He has now had a letter from these people saying he had to pay 75. Can this be enforced if it is on private land. He has written back (twit) to say he was the driver, but do they have the power to come to your address to clamp your vehicle, or to send bailiffs in? It is obviously a big problem here, because there is even a fightback forum online now (Highview Parking Blenheim Place fightback forum) Think they are a bit like the 'stick up a sign on a bit of derelict land and clamp em brigade'. Any thoughts?

This is the forum you refer to, with good photographs of the route and signage.

I suggest you contact the council, the police and the local press about this. As far as I am aware private companies not authorised by either the council, police or government agency cannot deal with moving vehicle offences, and where such authority is granted it should be made clear on all communications.
Forgot the link, I was so mad about this!

Thanks Ethel, he went to the council, and they do not want to know, saying it is on private land. But at least it's something if we know they cannot enforce a moving offence.
rabbits, if the forum you are referring to is
http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/users/validate. asp?uid=180049&rnum=14350621

I would urge you to join it and take the steps that the rest of us are taking. The more people who speak up about this the more chance there is of stopping this despicable nonsense.

sorry I gave you the wrong link.
but I see now that others having you the right one
You will find no one wants to know about this if you just speak to an anonymous person in the council etc
but, with names number facts etc, we can get to the bottom of this, so again I would urge you to join the main forum
