Choosing a beneficiary

I don't have family or children. My benefits at work, including pension, is quite sizable. I can't name the beneficaries to be left to my estate how do I name a charity and a scholarship fund ,in my name, to my high school?

Make a will. If you don' t. you'll end up intestate.That means the taxman will get most of your estate.

If you want to set up a charitable trust, make this - and any conditions - clear in your will. It might be worthwhile to contact the school to compare what they're looking for to what you'd be prepared to sponsor.

There are a number of organisation that offer WillAid (or something similar). Basically, it costs you very little to draw up your will, but any charges due are given to charity.

My wife's village in Thailand would benefit greatly from a donation from you, it is a very poor area like many over there, no running water and homes built from anything that they can scrape together, but the people are so friendly and happy with their lot, unlike the lazy generation of DHSS scroungers we seem to be breeding over here.
