Follow up to an incident that happened at work, posted 21/09/07

Thanks for all your advice. I recently found out that there is a panic button at the library, which if activated, a voice comes accross saying 'are you alright'. Also, there is one rape alarm which if activated sounds a very loud pitch noise. When I first started the job over a year ago I was handed a lone worker form but never told what I should do with it (my line manager is very abcent minded and doesn't explain things properly, but thats another story) or even how often it should be used. I work 2 days a week equalling 11 hours per week and on my shifts will work alone for approximately 2 hours 30 minutes a week. I am never encouraged to fill in a lone working form during this time. I recommended that the library install some form of CCTV but my line manager seems to think it's not at all nessasary. I am told a similar incident happened at one of the other Libraries recently and now the person involved has gone on long term sick. I will contact the trade union but even after discovering they have panic buttons, will they still be able to help? TIA
