Does anyone know if you pay off an existing mortgage ie to remortgage with another company or to sell the property does the building society write to the borrower saying that they have been redemmed of their mortgage or words to that effect. thanks

Usually they do. More importantly the charge is taken off the title deeds.

thanks ethel, the charge was taken off and the property registered in my sole name but an ex partner is still trying to claim an interest.
