Solicitor needed for house sale?

I am in the process of selling my house privately. Do I need a solicitor myself or is it just the buyer who needs a solicitor?

Nobody needs a solicitor but it may provide complications and additional expense and delay as the law is designed so that a normal person cannot understand it. There are also complications regarding the holding of deposit money, etc.

dont use a solicitor use a conveyancer they are so much cheaper and most are a fixed price but do the same job

If you have a mortgage on the property that you are selling, you will definately need a solicitor (or conveyancer) to act for you. It is advisable to have one in any event.

Most solicitors offer a fixed price conveyancing service.
